How to get to Sapadere Canyon
The canyon sits in the Taurus foothills east of Alanya, up a mountain road from the coast. Four ways to reach it, compared without a sales pitch — then the case for letting someone else drive.
Where the canyon is
Sapadere is a village in the Alanya district, inland from the coast to the east of the town. From Alanya centre the road is roughly 40–45 km depending on the route and where you start; from the Side coast it is about 110 km, most of it along the coast road before the turn into the hills. Option 1 — the guided tour
A vehicle collects you at your hotel, a guide walks the canyon with you, the ticket (on the Alanya tours) and lunch are included, and you are back at the hotel in the afternoon. Nothing to navigate, no parking, no gate to work out. From the Alanya belt it runs every day; from the Side coast on Wednesdays and Sundays. Prices are on the price page.
Option 2 — a private vehicle
The same day with your own vehicle and your own timing, quoted per vehicle. It suits families with small children, groups who want to leave earlier or stay longer, and anyone who prefers not to share. It is a request, not an online booking — see the private tour page.
Option 3 — taxi
A taxi will take you up and can wait or come back for you; agree the fare and the waiting arrangement before you leave. You pay the canyon ticket at the gate, find lunch yourself in the village or by the river, and have no guide on the walkway. Fine for a couple who want complete freedom; the maths rarely beats the tour for two or more people once lunch is added.
Option 4 — hire car
The coast road is straightforward; the mountain road is narrow in places and busy with tour traffic in the middle of the day. Parking at the canyon is at the entrance. You buy the ticket at the gate and the cave ticket at the cave. Drive it if you enjoy the drive; skip it if you would rather look at the scenery than the road.

There is no regular bus that takes hotel guests to the canyon and back in a day; visitors come by tour, taxi or car.
Can I be collected from Side for a day at the canyon?
Yes — the tour from Side runs on Wednesdays and Sundays with pickup from Gündoğdu to Kızılot.
