Families
Sapadere Canyon for families: children, seniors and the walkway
A short walk on a handrailed walkway, cold water and a lunch by the river make an easy family day — with three honest caveats: steps, no pushchair, and water that is genuinely cold.
Children
The walkway is about 750 m each way, with handrails on the open side and the group moving at the pace of its slowest member. Children who walk on their own feet find it an adventure: water underneath, rock overhead, a waterfall at the end. Children aged 4–10 pay the child price — €23 on the canyon tour from Alanya — and infants up to 3 travel free.
There are steps and uneven sections, so a hand is held in places, and the water is cold enough that most small children paddle rather than swim. Lunch is grilled trout or chicken at tables by the river; the restaurant is used to families.
Pushchairs and carriers
A pushchair cannot be pushed the whole way — the steps see to that. It can stay in the vehicle; a carrier is the practical answer for an infant. Tell us in the booking notes if you are travelling with a baby and we plan for it.
Seniors
For anyone who walks comfortably on steps and uneven ground, the canyon is an easy and rewarding day: the walk is short, the pace is gentle, there are rests at the water and a long lunch. It is not suitable for guests with serious mobility difficulties or who need a wheelchair, and the mountain road involves some bends. The who can join page goes through the cases one by one.
Which tour for a family?
The canyon tour is the shorter day and the easiest first choice. The Dim River version is about an hour longer and rewards families who like a long lunch with their feet near the water. From the Side coast the Side departure is the option, and it is a longer day. A family that wants its own vehicle and its own timing can request a private day.
What to pack for children
- Shoes with grip and, for the pools, a change of clothes.
- Swimwear, a towel and a warm layer for after the water.
- A hat and sunscreen; the drive and the open stretches are in full sun.
- Water is bought at the stops — outside food and drink are not taken into the canyon.
