Sapadere village: the mountain village the canyon is named after

Where it is

Sapadere sits in the hills inland from the coast to the east of Alanya, on the road the tours climb from the coast. The canyon lies above it; the walkway's entrance is reached through the village. From Alanya centre the drive is roughly 40–45 km depending on route; from the Side coast about 110 km.

What the tour does here

The vehicle passes through the village on the way to the canyon entrance and back. That is the honest whole of it. Other websites describe silk workshops, water mills and village walks; those may exist, but they are not stops on the operator's itinerary and this site does not sell what it does not deliver. If the guide pauses in the village on a given day, it is a bonus, not a promise.

What the village gives the day

Cooler air than the coast, gardens and terraces on the slopes, a glimpse of a Taurus mountain village going about its day while a coach full of guests goes past — and the sense, before the walkway begins, of being somewhere the sea does not reach. The itinerary page puts it in order.

The river and the lunch

The river that cut the canyon runs down past the village, and lunch on the canyon tours is at a restaurant by the water: grilled trout or chicken, vegetarian on request, drinks paid separately. On the Dim River tour lunch is in a different valley altogether, on platforms over the Dim River.

Sapadere and the cave

Cüceler (Dwarfs') Cave lies near the canyon and is the optional stop on the way out; see the cave page. It is the one "extra" of the day that is real, ticketed and skippable.
